Mike and Kara Spinner started MK Haus Farms in 2022. They raise Texas Longhorn cattle on four acres of pasture in Chenoa and have found a good market for the leaner meat these cattle provide.
Mike and Kara originally bought their first Longhorn because they wanted a supply of healthy beef. Over time, they grew to love these wonderful animals.
Mike and Kara currently graze a herd of 16 Texas Longhorns and are at capacity for their pasture. They would like to expand the herd to 20-30 head with calves. They are looking for additional pasture to lease or potentially purchase if the right opportunity comes up.
Mike and Kara prefer a land access arrangement with grazing possible year-round. However, if water and shelter would not be available, winter arrangements could be worked out.
Mike and Kara are looking for a property that fits these criteria:
- A location within 30-45 minutes of the Pontiac or Chenoa area. They would be willing to travel a little further if the pasture is self-sufficient with water, shelter, and secure fencing
- Lease start date as soon as possible
- 10-20 acres of established pasture
- Minimum lease term of 5 years preferred
- Access to water is preferred, but they are willing to haul water if the pasture is close to their home farm in Chenoa
- If the farm does not have adequate fencing infrastructure, they would be willing to repair or install fencing if a long-term lease was secured
- Electrical access would be desired, but they alternatively can run solar for hotwire if it was not available
