After six years of success in northern Illinois, we’re excited to announce that Common Ground is coming to central Illinois this fall!

Common Ground is a social and educational event for those who have pressing needs around farmland.

Whether you’re looking for land to start or expand your farm business; looking for a farmer to purchase, steward, or lease your land; or simply wanting to learn more about land access, we invite you to come build community, connect, and find your common ground.

Each Common Ground event is organized by a dedicated team of community partners. For northern Illinois, the team includes the Center for Agrarian Learning at McHenry County College, Farmers Rising, The Land Conservancy of McHenry County, and Northern Illinois Young Farmers. For central Illinois, the team includes American Farmland Trust and the Savanna Institute. Each partner brings regional expertise, years of experience working with farmers and landowners, and a strong commitment to the good food movement.

“Common Ground is a unique event because as much as it is about sharing information and resources to breakdown the complicated topic of land access, it is equally about sharing stories and encouragement,” says Illinois FarmLink’s Jeanne Janson. “We know that community plays a big role in land access. Farmers and landowners who come will meet friendly and supportive people and have a fun time.”

Both locally based events will showcase land access stories from nearby farmers and landowners, feature regional service providers, and offer opportunities to socialize with members of your community. We’re excited to replicate this popular event in a new location and look forward to making new connections in central Illinois.

Mark your calendars for this event you won’t want to miss. More information and tickets coming soon!
